John Costello is a seasoned public relations and corporate communications professional with a over decade of experience in both agency and in-house roles.

 

With deep expertise crafting compelling messaging, securing placements in top-tier publications, and building strong relationships with clients, media, and other stakeholders, he has an extensive track record of developing and executing successful campaigns for companies across a range sectors, including software, e-commerce, manufacturing, and finance.

Most recently, John served as Head of Public Relations and Executive Communications at Typeform, a B2B SaaS firm based in Barcelona. Its first-ever public relations leader, John was responsible for leading global public relations, external communications, and executive thought leadership. 

​

Under his leadership, the team accelerated Typeform’s awareness among priority stakeholders and share of voice on key subjects — in just one year, he helped increase total press coverage by 182%, earning coverage in influential outlets such as TechCrunch, Venturebeat, Ad Age, Business Insider and more.

Prior to Typeform, he served in a senior PR position at Wayfair, the Fortune 250 e-commerce company headquartered in Boston, leading the strategy and execution of awareness campaigns publicizing the company's world-class technology. In this role he managed public relations and corporate communications activities related to technology initiatives — including  augmented reality, virtual reality, machine learning, natural language processing and more — working directly with the founders, executives, internal subject matter experts and key industry partners to elevate Wayfair’s profile and credibility as a technology innovator among customers, investors, prospective engineering and data science talent, suppliers and press.

John has also held multiple roles at public relations and marketing agencies, serving a clients across a range of industries, primarily in the B2B technology space.

For the second consecutive year, the Publicity Club's prestigious Platinum Super Bell Award for PR campaign of the year went to Wayfair, one of the world’s largest online destinations for home furnishings and décor.

 

The company earned top honors for “Wayfair PR Attracts Top Talent to Join Wayfair’s House of Tech,” a campaign that established the firm as a technology innovator and attractive employment destination, gaining prominent share of voice in AR/VR vs. relevant competitors.
